My friend Robert, who is 62, of Mexican ancestry but a native of Tucson (both of his parents came here legally), has a 6 week old daughter. Every day, he gives her mother a break and goes for a walk with the baby. Three times in the past two weeks, he has been stopped and harrassed by the Tucson police because people called to report him. The last time, the police conspired with the woman who called to have her snatch the baby. When he grabbed her to get his child back, they kicked him in the chest, knocking him down. There have been no attempts to talk to him politely first, and no apologies afterwards.
