i would see the congress slipping away from me in 2010, leaving me impotent to accomplish most of what i was elected to accomplish. i would see this happening not because of the continuing wars, the delay in closing gitmo, or the watered down health care reform i am about to sign. i would see this happening because i haven’t created any jobs. wall street has recovered on the backs of main street. in response to this, i would create a roosevelt style WPA to rebuild our country’s infrastructure. there is no way this would get the 60 votes needed to push it through the senate, so i would use reconciliation to shove it down the republicans throats (and those of their corporate sponsors). once the jobs were created, no republican would have the courage to destroy them, so the program would stand, both rebuilding our country and revitalizing our economy, just like the first WPA did.
