Kevin, you were right, it was because i wasn’t embedding color profiles. this looks good in both IE and Firefox.
I still think it’s pretty sad that IE needs the profile while Firefox and Safari don’t.

Please enjoy the site. I recommend using either the Firefox or Safari browser to view the images, as Internet Explorer does not faithfully reproduce the colors.
in trying to ferret out the problem with my images i came across this very interesting article. a few of you might be interested enough to read it. Kevin?
if you don’t want to slog through the whole thing, click the link under the words “color stupid”. that will give you the lowdown on why my problem is unsolveable without a time machine.

a slight difference, but not dramatic. there is, however, a huge difference in the way they look on IE vs Mozilla.
OK, when i uploaded the image below, i noticed a marked difference in color from the original. unlike the one i was talking about the other day, this one was not overly warm to begin with, so i didn’t expect such a change.
anyway, i went ahead and downloaded Firefox (i’ve been using IE). the image looks a whole lot better. any of you who have both on your box might want to compare.
i think it must have been a recent build of IE that made this happen. i’ve never notice this before, and i am pretty aware of colors.
henceforth, i recommend using Firefox when viewing my journal or websites.
PS, Mac users: Safari seems equivalenmt to Firefox.
I am now the proud owner of one of these.
google told me to set the color space for sRGB, which it already was. digging a bit deeper, i found that browsers strip a whole lot of information out of images. if i proof for web in photoshop, i see the same crappy image you are getting. for the most part this doesn’t show dramatically, but my really warm night shots are showing as very green. i don’t like this. the second image i posted i pushed the saturation 100% and almost got it to where it should be. sadly, you guys don’t get to see my big toe in all its warm glory. i’m having breakfast with a friend (hi Dave) who is a photoshop wizard. maybe he can help…
